Portrait of a Wolf Workshop

May 23, 2013
I've booked another workshop at Mazart Studio- Portrait of a Wolf with Vic Bearcroft.

The workshop is in November and there's only one place remaining.  Vic is obviously a popular tutor and I'm looking forward to learning more pastel techniques.

Roy Lang Seascape Workshop - Mazart Studio

May 20, 2013
I've spent the last 3 days on an exceedingly enjoyable workshop at Mazart Studios - however as is usual for me I've not finished the painting.
Day 1 & day 2 I kept up.

Then lost the plot a bit on day 3.

I need to do much more work on the front rocks and the sea -  in particular getting the lights and darks in.

I have a good photo of Roy Langs painting so I can zoom in and study the details.

I also took notes so I can refer to colours brushes and descriptions. Bit tired after 3 intensive ...

Abstracting a Landscape

Here's the landscape I'm having a go at.

At the moment my painting feels more naieve than abstract but I shall persist.  I'm also using a set of inktense bars and pencils purchased earlier this year.  I may as well experiment with the media as well as the subject.

CATching the Lamplight

May 6, 2013

CATching the Lamplight is the third painting in the CATching series.
No 1 was CATChing the Sunset
and
No 2 was
CATching the moonlight.

CATching the Lamplight is based on a photo taken several years ago replacing me with the cat at the front. There was also a stone wall to remove so some artictic licence and creativity has come into play.
