Days End Sherwood

Days End Sherwood - based on a photograph taken several years ago on holiday in Sherwood Forrest.  So I've taken a bit of artistic licence to make the painting work.  I created a little more shoreline, included the last minutes of the sun before it disappears and increased the size of the distant pine trees. 
The new gouache paints were very nice to use.

Stars & Shells and Days End

Had a busy week last week (including yesterdays exhibition), so not too much painting done.  However I have managed to do the background for the shells painting and have decided on a project to try out my new gouache paints.  I really shouldn't be let loose in an art supply shop!!  I'm going to do an evening scene from a photo I took several years ago.  The photo has already undergone some editing in the photo software to improve composition and I can feel a bit of artistic licence coming on ...

Monochrome Seascape

I ventured into oils for the first time yesterday - under the tuition of Mazart Studio.  Had a good time, produced a reasonable painting and can recommend Maz to anyone thinking of having a go.

Golden Trio

Seems like I've been working for ages on this one.  Anyway finished Golden Trio yesterday.  I've had fun doing this series of paintings and am likely to do more in the future.  There's a whole range of colours and numerous butterfly shapes to work from.  Then the wing patterns and backgrounds start to take shape.

More Sea Shells in development

Went on hols to Inverness Scotland and took some art materials with me in the hope of capturing some of the wonderful scenery.  Thwarted by a bike accident that left me bumped and bruised with a sprained wrist.  Back home now and wrist is getting a little better so have re-commenced artwork by sketching up another sea shells idea and am hoping then to start on painting some of the wonderful scenes I captured on my camera in the beautiful highlands.
