One Pencil Workshop

This weeks arty activity has been writing a “one pencil workshop” to be delivered at the Warcop art exhibition at the start of May.  In the session delegates will learn to create a tonal range, shade & blend, make marks, lift graphite and produce 3d images – all only using one hb pencil.  There will be other H – B pencils available if required and a suggested follow up of my on line tutorials.

Gamelands Stone Circle

My friend introduced me to Gamelands Stone Circle yesterday.  Not a photo sort of day but did get a sunlit landscape as we headed back to the car.

As today has been sunny popped back for some more shots.

Only found one stone with markings.

A local landscape to go on the to be painted list?

CATching the Beach Lights

The last painting in the current CATching batch is finished. Inspired from a visit to a Florida Beach where the ropes and posts guided the visitors over the sand dunes onto the beach. Add a moon, some lights and a few cats and CATching the Beach Lights was created. In the CATching artworks gallery. In case anyone thinks this looks familiar here’s the actual scene.

2 New CATching artworks

Finished these off today, now in mounts and waiting for frames. Added to the CATching Artwork Gallery.
CATching the Trees on the Lakeside inspired from a trip to Ullswater

CATching the Watercut Stone inspired by a question asked if I had an image of this local landmark painted in my monochrome blue style.

Both are available as prints and cards.

Snowdrops at Acorn Bank

Acorn Bank opens its gates on winter weekends for the snowdrop display.  It was very difficult to decide which ones to photograph amongst the thousands in full bloom carpeting the woodland floor and popping up in the gardens.

It was also nice to see other winter blooms and a few fungi.

EVAN Gallery refresh

The EVAN Gallery is having a refresh over this weekend.  Here’s what’s going on show in the framed artwork from me.  Combination of originals and framed prints.  Wonder what else is going on show?  Easiest way to find out – visit.

Abstract Photo?

My friend took me to look at this today on the muddy bank along a beck whilst out walking locally.  I believe they are otters footprints? I like the abstract sort of image they make.

CATching outlines

Three new CATching paintings are underway with compositions completed and transferred to watercolour paper for painting to commence.  Sorting out the watercolour paints to be used.  It’s been a while since I’ve used the monochrome blues with dilutions for the tones.

After the Sunset - Ullswater

On a cool December day we encountered this wonderful sky just after the sunset at Ullswater. Now in my Sunset Gallery
There was one hiccup along the way which you can read about from the work in progress.

Blue Ullswater

With changeable weather yesterday there were moments and directions when the Ullswater Blues came out.

I particularly enjoyed the swans who came closer to us as we stood quietly on the Glencoyne shoreline.

If you go down to the woods.

Spotted yesterday whilst out walking with a friend.  Not going to win any wildlife photographer award but nice to see it.

Days Away Drawings and Photos

Back home after a few days away. The weather wasn’t conductive to taking photos, so here’s a couple I managed ( when I removed my hands from my pockets and took off my gloves ).

I did however do some drawing/painting in my holiday sketch book during the evening in the warmth of the cottage.
