Mallerstang is about 5 miles from my home between Kirkby Stephen and Hawes. The ruins of Pendragon castle sit in the valley. The Settle / Carlisle railway line runs through here and is one of the most beautiful rail journeys in England. High on the fells stands the sculpture "Watercut stone", one of 10 sculptures that lie along the river Eden.
